A look at 6 years ago in comics

After it happened, the news seemed to be everywhere.

Ruben Bolling

Nobody was quite sure what to say.

Jim Siergey

For a short time, there was hope that we would pull together.

Tim Eagan

But we didn't for long.

Lalo Alcaraz

Soon, violent rhetoric ruled the day.

Matt Wuerker

The next thing we knew, we were being sold a war in Iraq.

Andy Singer

However, the war didn't turn out as the planners hoped.

Joe Sharpnack

The cartoons were shamelessly photographed from a book called "Attitude: The New Subversive Political Cartoons" (2002) edited by Ted Rall. Rall is an accomplished cartoonist himself. Attitude 2 and Attitude 3 are now available as well.

The authors are captioned below their comic with a link to their respective websites. Check out their stuff! Click the pictures to get a closer look.

A few years ago you'd be called a traitor and an Al-Qaeda supporter if you dared speak against anything W. Bush and Co. did, let alone the war. (In fact, I WAS called those things among others, particularly when I dared label the "freedom fries" thing "childish".) Now listen to what the red-blooded American conservatives are saying.

I won't bother saying, "You were warned" to such people. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Have those books been cleared by the Homeland Security Administration Bureau of Freedom Publications?

I remember thinking, "This is going to be another Vietnam..."

Let's see-

1. No end in sight - CHECK

2. Mounting casualties, (i.e. BODY COUNTS)- CHECK

3. Nebulous Boogeyman Bad Guys (the Communists), the Terrorists - CHECK

4. Muddled and inconsistant military leadership - CHECK

5. Undersupplied, overly young, and often ignored-once-injured soldiers - CHECK

6. HOW MANY BILLIONS SPENT????!!!!

There is nothing funny or humerous about what happened on 911 or what followed.

In fact, I am sitting on pins and needles thinking that Al Quaida may celebrate the anniversary by doing something worse...

Rall is also an enemy of the looney-tunes right in this country.

In light of that; thanks for sharing.

Great cartoons! Bush and the warmongers need to be mocked at every opportunity for all the destruction they have caused especially to our democratic institutions.

9-11 has nothing to no with the War in Iraq other then the fact that Dick & Bush wanted the folks to think it was.
