Killed the Word Verification

The Blogger word verification is just too annoying anymore. I got rid of it and I will live with the spam. They need shorter verifications and better letter rendering. Sometimes their javascript gets funky too and the graphic will change while I am typing it in. So it must go. Sorry for the inconvenience all this time.

(The acronyms and word verification based poetry was fun though. Good times.)

Fanks, Tu-bee.

I kept having a problem every 3rd time I'd try and post.

Then lose everything.

Yeah, it was getting annoying. It made me question my mad typing skillz. Me! Question! I don't play that game.

I tried that this week, but I immediately started getting two spams a day on old posts from some server in Romania. I'm not sure which is more annoying, the work verification or the spam. Grrrr. For now I went back to the verification nonsense.

I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one that has trouble with the verification system. Thanks for doing away with it on this blog.

I've found it depends on the browser...and even on the computer. The only problem with word verification I have on the machine I use at home (running Firefox) is that it sometimes asks me to retype the word verification if I write a really long post. On the main workstation I use at work (running Internet Exploder) it would sometimes freeze when downloading the word verification, sometimes display only an "unviewable graphic" mark, and on occasion wipe the whole post. The workstation in the next room, however (also running I.E.) doesn't seem to have those problems.

Most of the cock-ups seem to be related to javascript issues. That quirky workstation I use has several different versions of Sun Java installed and active. I wonder if that's the problem...

I used to use word verification when one time (in 5 seconds) I received 80 spams!!! which made my computer hang because I was online during that time my notification emails was on. So unbelievable annoying... After I turned on the word verification, it also annoyed me because sometimes the word verification didn't show in the box because I'm using dial up internet connection, so I need to refresh all the time the page which took 5 minutes just to refresh a page.

So now... I'm back again without word verification and live with the spams :(

Hmmm. It might be time to take this operation "in house" as well.

In light of these comments, I will probably be removing word verification myself. I've been thinking about doing that anyway.
