Mother's Day Grand Tour

The Vista House (Crown Point), just re-opened last weekend after a 5 year restoration/renovation. It was an absolutely gorgeous day today, and all the wildflowers along the Historic Highway were in full bloom!
Our family w/grandmother & grandfather (yes, he was born on Mother's Day!) paid a visit, as well as picniced at Bridal Veil Falls, where we made a short but steep hike to the falls. We wisely skipped the dangerously car-choked parking lot of Mulnomah Falls and continued on to Cascade Locks, where we picked up ice cream cones at the local greasy spoon, The East Wind Drive-In. Here's another pic of the same eatery in the daytime. It was the perfect day to have "Mother's" Day & I didn't have to drive, plus received two items I'd had my eye on for several years as gifts!

What a beautiful Mother's Day. Glad you enjoyed it.

I only saw that area once and it was from the air. My parents and I were flying in Dad's plane from So. Calif. to Spokane and ran into some weather over Oregon. Dad flew us under the clouds and followed the Columbia into Portland. That was 42 years ago, but I'll never forget the scenery - awesome.

Bridal Veil Falls look fantastic, and that drive-in brings back a lot of memories of mom & pop eateries in the days before the big chains.

Lovely day. Thanks for sharing it.

We dug in the mud to make a new garden. :-) Happy Mother's Day!

That's one of the many things I like about Oregon. You can still find plenty of mom & pop eateries around, mainly because so many people (tourists and locals) seem to prefer them.

Hmm...when was the last time I visited the Gorge? 1999?
