Cirque or "What's Happenin' Now"

Had a great day yesterday, went to see Vareki (means "wherever" in Romany, the gypsy language). It was really a great show, and what was even better was seeing several acts that my daughter could perform from her aerial movement classes! They had a classic hammock piece, and also a hoop piece.

I really wanted a leather bag (only $75), and of course some beautiful masks, (one of each color, blue, white, red/orange and my daughter wanted the most expensive one, which looked like a huge pope's miter w/a decoupage picture of a show scene). There were also gorgeous velvet scarves with Cirque de Soleil designs for a mere $225...

We glanced in at the "Tapis Rouge" (red carpet) folks private VIP area, and my daughter said something very appropriate; "That's where you can go be rich!" I said, "I think you hit the nail on the head! You are so right!" and then I laughed so hard....

Of course, there was a part of both of us that would have enjoyed being able to hang out in the swanky Tapis Rouge enclosure w/fancy free hors d'oeuvres, having an excuse to dress up and buy super expensive specialty stuff, but we also saw the ridiculousness of it, and it was pure tee-hee funny...

That sounds really cool. What a treat to be able to see a production like that.

On Maui there is a Cirque du Soliel like show called 'Ulalena (some of the people who created it also worked on Cirque). It shows the history of Hawaii from mythological creation to present through dance, music, and aerial performances.

That is good to know! Another reason to visit Hawaii again. We didn't get to Maui, we were only in Honolulu, and got out a little to visit North Shore and some other spots.
