One Reason for Mr. Snabulus' Funky Behavior?

Those of us that know Snabby well know he can be, well, a bit moody at times (though not as much as me, obviously) despite having many things in his life that the rest of us can't help but admire. We also know and appreciate his Norwegianness. Is there a connection between the two? Read the linked article (and remember my tongue is firmly in my cheek).

I dunno, the Swedes seem to commit suicide just as much, and since he also is heavily Irish, maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm Irish too, (and German, English, Scottish, Quebecquois-French, Native American and probably some other stuff) so I can heartily say I'm "complicated" as my husband says, or maybe just a Leo in a house of FIRE! (all of us, MiniSnab included are Leo's)

Swedish Suicide...sounds like a good name for a rock band.

Well, I know I can lay the blame for my moodiness squarely on the Irish-Scottish mix I get from my mom's side. Maybe the French-English bit on my dad's side has something to do with it, too. The Frogs and the Limeys just CANNOT get on...

Hmm...Frog and The Limeys...
Naaaaaah.

Having a well balanced multiracial background has nothing to do with being depressed. Its a chemical imbalance which can be brought on by the loads of life, but its also genetic. It would have been interesting to note on what scale the secular versus spiritual life the Norwegians live.

I think the 3 months without sunshine done it. Alaskans are just as bad.

Um...wouldn't your racial background affect your genetic makeup? I mean, isn't racial background ALL based on genetics in the first place?

People of Celtic (Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Manx, Cornish) background are traditionally believed to be moody and temperamental. Maybe said chemical imbalance is a genetic trait inherited from that racial background.

It would have been interesting to note on what scale the secular versus spiritual life the Norwegians live.

(Don't touch this one, moody...don't touch it...DON'T...)

(Ahhhh....)

Well, in another news article on the same website, newly elected ministers of parliament were complaining about Norway's Constitution, which requires that half of all MPs be not only avowed Christians, but registered members of the state church. Apparently the church has a lot of power in Norwegian society, so those secular humanists are kicking up trouble with their insistence on religious freedom. However, secular humanists are definitely in the minority in Norway, though Norwegians, as with most Scandinavians in general, tend to be anything but conservative in their Christian beliefs.

As a native South Californian (there are two Californias you realize) who spent over half his life in Hawaii, I found Wintering in Japan to be emotionally bleak.

Break out the full spectrum lamps.

Sunshine on my shoulder make me happy.....

I'm living in So. Cal now, and I long for the winter. The Santa Anas are a royal pain in the butt!

Last year, we actually saw some snow in the desert, and that was pretty cool!

Looking at the international weather reports, it seems that Los Angeles is getting an awful lot of rain this year. I remember that, only a few weeks ago, Los Angeles kept appearing in the forecast list with little, blue umbrellas, whereas San Francisco always had yellow suns.

Is there actually water in the Los Angeles River now?

Of course, moodiness might be expected when thoughtful people are faced with the neverending litany of stupidity and horror which is the 'human condition'. Its hard to be chipper with W in the White House.

Most of that rain happened earlier in the year. The last couple of weeks (certainly last week), we're dealing with fires and hot dry winds. Rain would be a bit of a blessing.

I'm not touching that W comment with a ten foot polarian.

My doctor says that chemical imbalances can also be caused by even minor head injuries that occur before the age of two. Maybe Swedish people have an ancient and secret baby dropping ritual?

I hear a Nuthatch! Ypuga, hallelujah!

Yeah, it's the darkness. The suicide rates in Scandinavia are higher than anywhere else. Same with Alaska too...
