Smelly robot eats flies to generate its own power

LONDON - British scientists are developing a robot that will generate its own power by eating flies.

The idea is to produce electricity by catching flies and digesting them in special fuel cells that will break down sugar in the insects' skeletons and release electrons that will drive an electric current.

"Called EcoBot II, the robot is part of a drive to make "release and forget" robots that can be sent into dangerous or inhospitable areas to carry our remote industrial or military monitoring of, say, temperature or toxic gas concentrations," New Scientist magazine said on Wednesday.

Take that you stupid spiders.

I don't give a damn about the smell. I'd love to have one of those things around here right about now...especially if they also eat moths and cockroaches. It's probably an aftereffect of the bizarre weather we've had every summer for the last few years, but we're getting an overabundance of the things. Digesting the load of bugs we have right now would probably produce enough electricity to power Baghdad for a month.

Relatively Exact:

So when do they come up with the big, neutronium-hulled version that eats planets?

Who do they eat when they run out of flies? The hazmat dudes' bones gleam so whitely in the sun after the robots pick them clean.
